Organizational Unit Overview

Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) is the central agency that supports enterprise-wide computing at East Carolina University. ITCS, through innovative information technology initiatives and service, provides opportunities for the ECU community to excel in teaching, research, and service using state-of-the-market technology and collaborative environments. ITCS is first and foremost committed to providing excellent information technology support for faculty, staff, and students. ITCS partners with campus departments, other universities, and industry to make strategic investments in information technology infrastructure that will help maintain a competitive advantage in administrative applications, faculty research, and outreach to the state and nation. We will achieve this through increasing the core functions and deploying appropriate technology throughout the university.

 Academic Technologies provides instructional technology and learning platforms support, support to computer labs, the ACE student repair center, classroom technology, Video conferencing, communication and graphic design, web application support, and central Help Desk services.

 The Classroom Technology team is responsible for audio visual coordination and consulting across campus, including the support of over 400 technology enhanced spaces, and major building projects, video conferencing and lecture capture. The team provides support for MediaSite, RoomView, Crestron, Polycom, Tandberg, and Biamp.

 Job Duties

The individual in this position will supervise the east campus classroom technology support staff. This position will also provide supervision for: classroom computer system imaging and administration; asset tracking; technology support of the Global Classrooms; and campus wide AV support. This position will serve as a resource to resolve issues and provide tier 3 (advanced) audio visual (AV) support for general classrooms, teaching labs, conference rooms and other instructional spaces.

 This position will also serve as a resource to team members and distributed Instructional Technologist positions across campus on advanced troubleshooting and training of classroom system configurations. This position will provide training to Classroom Technologies and Learning Platforms staff as well as faculty and students as needed. Other duties include AV technology research and project management. In addition, this position will serve as a resource to current and future enterprise AV/IT projects. This position also involves a great deal of public contact and demands a high standard of customer service.

 This position may require non-business hour support including evening and weekends, depending on the needs of the university.

 Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Technology Integration; Networking Technology, or related areas and two years of experience in the Information Technology field related to the position’s role; or a Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in the Information Technology Field related to the position’s role, or a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or Engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in the Information Technology Field related to the position’s role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Journey level requires an additional one year of experience.

 Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

·       Graduation from a two-year college or university with a degree in computer science, information technology, or electronics and five years of experience in the audiovisual or information technology field

·       AV industry certifications such as InfoComm, Crestron, Bi-amp, and Extron

·       In-depth knowledge and understanding of the capabilities of associated video communication hardware and software, video network resources and a variety of video and audio hardware and software

·         Advanced knowledge of professional AV equipment including but not limited to: Crestron; Wolfvision; Sony; Extron; Vaddio; Audio Technica; BiAmp; Dell and Apple computers using Microsoft Windows or Apple operating systems; and Mediasite configurations that support class lecture capture

·        Advanced computer technical skills including an in-depth working knowledge of various computer hardware and software and the ability to successfully troubleshoot computer and network problems

·        Excellent project management skills

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work as an independent, productive, responsible, self-motivated member of a team in high-pressure situations

·        Previous supervisory experience and be able to effectively delegate tasks to team members

·        Excellent customer service experience

·      Able to work flexible and irregular hours due to university needs
